Tips on Inviting Local Experts to Your Workshop!
It may be helpful to invite local experts to participate in a question and answer session after your workshop. Ideally, the panel will consist of three people from the list below, but fewer experts will do! Be sure to line up your expert panel well in advance. Here are some suggestions:
-
Pharmacists who are working to improve access to Naloxone and/or initiating drug take-back programs
-
Doctors who can speak about how the local medical community is addressing the opioid crisis
-
Social workers dealing with addiction in the context of case-management or other community outreach programs
-
Public health professionals who are implementing or considering implementing harm reduction programs like needle exchanges
-
Business leaders who are proactively ensuring that their employees have access to substance abuse disorder treatment when needed
-
Community health workers who are addressing substance use disorders at a community level
-
First responders who are on the front lines and can speak about the use of Naloxone (the opioid overdose reversal drug), programs that bridge treatment gaps, and other potentially helpful programs
-
Law enforcement representatives who can speak on topics like the use of Drug Courts to promote paths to social reconciliation and recovery
